SuppliersThe SCAE is looking for Coffee suppliers to the SCAE World Cup Tasters Championship. The competition:The 6th World Championship for Cup Tasters will be organized in Cologne, Germany. National competitions are being held in several countries, and in the final, cup tasters from all over the world will meet to find out who is the best. The aim of the competition is to raise the status of cup tasters to the same level as wine tasters, and to focus on the quality and diversity of speciality coffee. The previous championships have been won by Fabiana Pozar from Illy Café Italy, Tim Wendelboe from Solberg &Hansen Norway and Gloria Pederosa from InterAmerican Switzerland. In Berne 24 cuppers competed in the International final. As in previous years the competition will be set up as a triangular test with 8 different triangulars. In one triangular there are two different coffees. Two are identical, one is different. The competitor has to identify the single odd cup in all eight triangulars. The competitor with the most correct cups wins. If there is a tie then the competitor that completed the test in the shortest time wins. The competition attracts a large and enthusiastic audience and is exciting to watch. The coffees we need. The competition will be held with the use of quality coffees from all over the world, however this year we have decided to invite single estates, farms and cooperatives to have their coffees among the 18 we will use in the final. The coffees will then not only be tasted by the finalists, but also by the audience, who will be invited to taste and test the coffees after the final is over. The coffees will also be presented in a specially produced SCAE book, which be distributed during the championship, given to all members, and later distributed through our resource centre as a part of our educational program. The coffees will be roasted and ground in Belgium shortly before the final. The cost of ParticipationThe Cost for participating is € 500 (US$ 650) for each coffee, and the suppliers can only provide one coffee each. Who can participate? All traceable individual estates, farms and cooperatives. They can participate on their own or through their exporters, traders or roasters. Preference will be given to SCAE members or member organizations. All quality coffees are accepted regardless of botanical variety. If necessary the SCAE reserves the right to select final participants in order to make the competition fair, representative and up to standards. Only coffees that are used will be asked to send their coffee and consequently invoiced for the € 500. This is what the suppliers will get from the SCAE:For the € 500 (equivalent of US $ 650) the supplier will get: *A full page in the SCAE booklet in full colour DIN Lang size (10 x 21 cm).
